About Us!
The Other 49% is a student-led organization based in Long Island, New York, dedicated to exposing and addressing the gender inequities that persist in modern healthcare. For too long, women have been overlooked, misdiagnosed, and underrepresented in medical research, clinical trials, and treatment. These disparities are not rare; they’re systemic, and they affect millions every single day.
From delayed diagnosis to dismissed pain, women are too often forced to navigate a healthcare system that was not designed with them in mind. The consequences are real: prolonged suffering, preventable complications, and a lack of trust in medical institutions. This is not just a gap in care; it is a justice gap.
We are committed to changing this.
Through education, advocacy, and community-driven initiatives, The Other 49% works to raise awareness and push for meaningful, long-term reform. We amplify patient voices by sharing real stories, highlighting critical research and data, and creating spaces for conversations that are often ignored. Our initiatives include community events, educational outreach, fundraising efforts, and partnerships aimed at making healthcare more equitable for all.
We believe awareness is only the beginning. True change comes from action, challenging outdated systems, demanding accountability, and ensuring that women are no longer treated as an afterthought in medicine.
Our Initiatives
At The Other 49%, our work spans community education, patient advocacy, digital awareness, and global outreach. Through these initiatives, we aim to amplify voices, educate communities, and push for systemtic change in healthcare
